How MCB Car4U works
MCB pays the dealer or manufacturer directly, and you repay in equal monthly installments, usually by direct debit from an MCB account. Car4U covers new and used locally manufactured cars, a second or third family car, and options such as residual value, where up to half of the principal is paid as a lump sum at the end, and a deferred plan that delays the first installments by 3 to 6 months.
Your down payment with MCB includes three things: your share of the car's price, the first year's insurance premium, and the processing fee with FED. Registration and any premium above the dealer's list price are on top. The processing fee is only charged if your loan is approved. MCB says approval usually takes 8 to 10 days once all documents are in.
MCB car loan rates in 2026
MCB publishes two rates for Car4U on its page, both linked to 1 year KIBOR. If you already have an MCB account the rate is KIBOR plus 4%. If you are new to MCB it is KIBOR plus 4.5%. On a Rs 21 lakh loan over 3 years, that half a percent is worth roughly Rs 500 a month.
With 1 year KIBOR at 12.81% and the SBP policy rate at 12.00%, an MCB account holder would pay about 16.81%. The rate is variable, so the installment can change when it is reset to the latest KIBOR. Ask MCB whether a fixed rate option is available when you apply.
Down payment, tenure and SBP limits
MCB finances up to 70% of the car's value, so plan for at least 30% down. SBP rules add two more limits. Cars above 1000cc can be financed for at most 3 years, and cars up to 1000cc for at most 5 years. And total car finance for one person across all banks cannot exceed Rs 30 lakh.
MCB's page still mentions tenures of up to 7 years, but under the current SBP rules that is not available for consumer car loans. A draft policy from May 2026 proposed bringing 7 year car loans back, but it was not in force when we checked.
Paying off early
You can prepay all or part of your Car4U loan at any time, but a charge applies. MCB's FAQ lists up to 8% of the amount prepaid in the first year, about 6% in the second year and about 3.5% from the third year. Partial prepayments are allowed up to twice a year, 6 months apart, and must be at least 6 installments. If you expect a bonus, it can be cheaper to put it towards a bigger down payment at the start.
Who is eligible
Salaried applicants need at least 6 months with their current employer or 12 months of total experience. Self employed people need a year in the same business. The minimum net income is Rs 40,000 a month, and only a spouse's income can be added to yours. Salaried applicants must finish the loan by 65 or retirement age, and self employed applicants by 70. Remittance income also counts if you have 6 months of history through banking channels.
Documents MCB asks for
- Copy of your CNIC and 2 passport size photographs
- Bank statements for the last 6 to 12 months
- Latest salary slip, or proof of business for self employed applicants
- Any other income proof such as a rental agreement or remittance record
Worked example

|---|---|
| Your down payment (30%) | Rs 900,000 |
| Amount financed | Rs 2,100,000 |
| Monthly installment | Rs 74,672 for 36 months |
| Total markup | Rs 588,203 |
| Processing fee (estimate, plus FED) | Rs 12,000 |
| Insurance, first year (estimate) | Rs 60,000 |
| Salary needed (40% rule) | Rs 186,681 a month |
